Pharmaceutical Workshop 2026

As part of the “Together for Export” initiative launched by the Export Council for Medical Industries (ECMI) to strengthen and increase Egypt’s medical industries exports, with the goal of reaching USD 3 billion by 2030, ECMI organized an extensive workshop entitled: Enhancing Pharmaceutical Exports to Africa (Policy, Regulation, and Market Access)

The workshop was held on 21 January 2026 and brought together leading executives from Egypt’s pharmaceutical manufacturing and exporting sector, including CEOs and chairpersons of pharmaceutical companies, alongside representatives from key government entities, most notably the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), the Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Egyptian Commercial Service, and representatives of pharmaceutical companies.

 This high-level participation reflects the strong integration of health policies, pharmaceutical regulation, and economic diplomacy in support of expanding Egyptian pharmaceutical exports into African markets, which represent one of the most strategic target markets for Egypt’s medical industries sector.

The workshop addressed several strategic themes aimed at facilitating the entry of Egyptian pharmaceutical products into African markets, including:

  • Harmonization of pharmaceutical manufacturing licensing procedures and medicine registration requirements across Africa.
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing licensing and medicine registration frameworks within selected African economic blocs.
  • Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between Egypt and African countries in the medical sector.
  • The African Medicines Agency (AMA), which seeks to harmonize pharmaceutical regulations across the African continent.
  • the target markets and ECMI’s strategy for enhancing Egyptian pharmaceutical exports to Africa.
  • The latest developments in pharmaceutical cooperation with African countries, in addition to outlining the export incentive package and the modern regulatory registration mechanisms adopted by the Authority. These measures are intended to accelerate the registration of pharmaceutical products and address the regulatory and technical challenges facing Egyptian exporters.

During the workshop, a number of pharmaceutical companies were honored in recognition of their outstanding achievements in pharmaceutical exports in cooperation with ECMI. The awards acknowledged their valuable contribution to supporting Egypt’s national economy and enhancing the global competitiveness of Egyptian pharmaceutical products.

Medical Devices Workshop 2026

ECMI organized an extensive workshop entitled: Enhancing Medical Supplies & Devices Exports to Africa (Policy, Regulation, and Market Access)

The workshop was held on 5 May 2026 and brought together leading executives from Egypt’s medical supplies manufacturing and exporting sector, including CEOs and chairpersons of medical supplies & Devices companies, alongside representatives from key government entities, most notably the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), the Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Egyptian Commercial Service, General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), Industrial development Authority (IDA), Customs authority, Industrial Modernization Center (IMC), and representatives of medical supplies companies.

 The workshop addressed several strategic themes aimed at facilitating the entry of Egyptian medical supplies & devices products into African markets.

  • Advancing Egypt’s Medical Devices Sector -Strategic Vision.
  • EDA role in supporting local manufacturing and encouraging investment in localizing medical supplies in Egypt by facilitating registration procedures and providing technical guidance.
  • An overview of the Egyptian medical supplies market and its exports, highlighting the role of international agreements, initiatives, and innovative mechanisms that support and promote export growth.
  • International & Regional Regulatory Collaborations and Market Access.
  • The target markets and ECMI’s strategy for enhancing Egyptian pharmaceutical exports to Africa.
  • Recent Achievements in Customs in Egypt.
  • IMC Presentation on the International Certificates and digital transformation.
