Eva Pharma

  • EVA Pharma has partnered with Eli Lilly to locally manufacture and distribute insulin glargine (a long-acting basal insulin) and human insulin in Egypt and across Africa.
  • EVA Pharma operates advanced biologics facilities in Egypt capable of producing up to 100 million vials and 80 million cartridges of insulin annually.
  • EVA Pharma set a Guinness World Records title for creating the “longest phrase written using medication packages.” The company formed the words “EVA Insulin” using 11,210 insulin vials to highlight their extensive local manufacturing capabilities and the launch of their new “Humaxin” and “Glargivin” insulins.

Spectrum Diagnostics

  • Spectrum Diagnostics (Egyptian Company for Biotechnology) is a premier IVD manufacturer based in Egypt that became the first company in the Middle East to be awarded full CE Certification under the European Union’s In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR) Class B and Class A certification from A European notified body.
  • One of Spectrum Diagnostic Industries‘ manufacturing facilities has been inaugurated at the Ismailia Public Free Zone. The facility specializes in the production of rapid diagnostic tests (Rapid Tests) and is the first factory in Egypt, Africa, and the Arab world to manufacture these tests through a fully integrated process, from raw materials to finished products, in accordance with the highest international quality standards. The establishment of this facility aims to localize the manufacturing of rapid diagnostic tests in Egypt, strengthening the country’s capabilities in producing essential medical diagnostics. These tests are used for the detection of infectious diseases and epidemics, drug screening, and tumor marker testing.
  • The company currently exports its products to more than 40 countries worldwide, reflecting the quality of its products and its strong competitiveness in international markets.

Arab API

  • Arab API is building Egypt’s first multi-purpose active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and raw materials factory in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) in Ain Sokhna. The massive 96,828-square-meter facility costs an estimated $165 million and aims to produce 750 tons of APIs annually to boost national drug self-sufficiency.
  • It is a joint venture between EIPICO, the Arab Company for Drug Industries and Medical Appliances (ACDIMA), and the SCZone.
  • The facility is designed to manufacture essential active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, and chemicals with an initial focus on Cephalosporin.
  • Once fully operational, the plant is expected to meet 8% to 10% of the country’s raw material needs and save an estimated $250 million annually in import costs.

 The Vaccine and Biotechnology City (VBC)

  • The Vaccine and Biotechnology City (VBC) in Egypt is a massive national biopharmaceutical complex focused on manufacturing veterinary and human vaccines. Located on an 115,000 m² site, it features three state-of-the-art veterinary vaccine factories with a massive target production of up to 5.5 billion doses annually.
  • It aims to localize the veterinary and human vaccine industries, contributing to Egypt’s health resilience and supplying up to 16% of Africa’s vaccine needs by 2040.
  • VBC stems from a successful Egyptian-American partnership (including MEVAC/UVAC) combined with the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO).
