The Pharmaceutical industry follows strict GMP guidelines, some of the existing facilities have been inspected and approved by GCC health authorities, Saudi FDA, and many other Stringent Regulatory Authorities such as the (EUDRA, PIC/s) and the WHO Prequalification. Egypt has more than 200 pharmaceutical & veterinary factories with diversified product portfolios, as well as 1250 Contract Manufacturing companies. Some companies started to establish factories for manufacturing the biologicals and the biosimilars. The Medical Supplies & Devices sector has evolved over the past 15 years, starting from qualifying the companies to obtain the international quality certificates such as CE mark, MDR, IVDR, US-FDA and ANVISA. The sub sectors are: Disposables, Orthopedics (Prosthetics/Soft Orthopedics/Orthotics), In-Vitro Diagnostics, Medical Furniture, Infection & Prevention Apparels and Dental Equipment & Supplies. There are more than 150 Egyptian factories in the medical supplies & devices sector producing more than 7000 products.

Cosmetics and cosmeceuticals

Egypt has a large and growing cosmetics industry, valued at over $3 billion. The sector has been expanding at an annual rate of 10-15% in recent years. Domestic production accounts for around 70% of the cosmetics market, while imports make up the rest.
